Office of Veteran and Military Affairs Scholarship for Military Family Members
Overview.
The Office of Veteran and Military Affairs (OVMA) is now accepting applications for the OVMA Scholarship for Military Family Members. The OVMA Scholarship for Military Family Members provides scholarship and financial assistance to students enrolled at Syracuse University who identify as military family members and/or dependents. The application is open to all Syracuse University students (both on-campus and online students) who are military-family members and/or dependents. The amount of the scholarship is one $5,000 awarded in the Spring 2023 semester.
Instructions.
Please read all the application instructions CAREFULLY!
1. Deadline. Sunday, (11:59 p.m.) EST; February 19th, 2023. NO applications will be accepted after the deadline.
2. How to apply. The application packet includes a cover letter, resume and essay questions. Your scholarship application will be considered based on the quality and content of your essay question responses. If you do not provide responses to all questions on this application or fail to complete the application process as instructed, your application will be incomplete, and you will not be considered for the scholarship.
3. Essay questions. Please answer each essay question in 200-300 words and attach it to the scholarship application as a separate document.
a. How would you describe your service to others and your community? How has your family member’s military service shaped your actions or inspired you?
b. Please describe your academic and career goals. How will your academic and/or career aspirations benefit others in your community.
c. The Office of Veteran and Military Affairs Scholarship for Military Family Members? is built on the premise of providing scholarship and financial assistance to students who are military family members and dependents, enabling them to pursue their educational goals and reach their fullest potential. Please describe how receiving this scholarship will help you achieve success.
4. Please note: If you are selected to receive The Office of Veteran and Military Affairs Scholarship for Military Family Members, you will be required to provide information for a donor recipient report prior to being awarded funds. OVMA will provide guidelines to the scholarship recipient upon selection notification.
