Overview.

The Office of Veteran and Military Affairs (OVMA) is now accepting applications for the Louis A. & Patricia H. Mautino Veteran Scholarship. The Louis A. & Patricia H. Mautino Veteran Scholarship will empower undergraduate student veterans to pursue their educational goals and reach their fullest potential. This Scholarship was made possible by a "Forever Orange" Campaign Gift from Patricia H. ’64, G’66 and Louis A. ’61, G’62 Mautino. The application is open to all Syracuse University Undergraduate Student Veterans. The amount of the scholarship is $2,900 for two scholarship winners to be awarded in the Spring 2023 semester.  



Instructions.


Please read all the application instructions CAREFULLY!


1. Deadline. Sunday, (11:59 p.m.) EST, February 19th, 2023NO applications will be accepted after the deadline.

2. How to apply. The application packet includes a cover letter, resume and essay questions. Your scholarship application will be considered based on the quality and content of your essay question responses. If you do not provide responses to all questions on this application or fail to complete the application process as instructed, your application will be incomplete, and you will not be considered for the scholarship.
 
3. Essay questions. Please answer each essay question in 200-300 words and attach it to the scholarship application as a separate document.
 
a.  What impact has military service had on you? Please describe your greatest challenge in transitioning to higher education and how you overcame that challenge. 
 
b.  Please describe your academic and career goals. How will your academic and/or career aspirations benefit others in your community.
 
c.   Why should you be chosen to receive the Louis A. & Patricia H. Mautino Scholarship?
 
d.  The Louis A. & Patricia H. Mautino Scholarship is built on the premise of empowering undergraduate student veterans to pursue their educational goals and reach their fullest potential. Please describe how receiving this scholarship will help you achieve success.
 
4. Please note: If you receive the Mautino Scholarship, you will be required to provide information for a donor recipient report prior to being awarded funds. OVMA will provide guidelines to the scholarship recipient upon selection notification.
