Overview.
The Office of Veteran and Military Affairs (OVMA) is now accepting applications for the OVMA Gerald B. Faigle Jr. and Roberta M. Faigle Student Veteran Scholarship. The Gerald B. Faigle Jr. ('58, '59); and Roberta M. Faigle ('60) Student Veteran Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship that will empower currently enrolled graduate student veterans to pursue their educational goals and reach their fullest potential. This scholarship was made possible by the generosity of Gerald B. Faigle Jr. ('58, '60) and Roberta M. Faigle ('60). The application is open to all Syracuse University graduate Student Veterans. The amount of the scholarship is $3,000, awarded to one applicant during the Spring 2023 semester.
Instructions.
Please read all the application instructions CAREFULLY!
1. Deadline. Sunday, (11:59 p.m.) EST; February 19th, 2023. NO applications will be accepted after the deadline.
2. How to apply. The application packet includes a cover letter, resume and essay questions. Your scholarship application will be considered based on the quality and content of your essay question responses. If you do not provide responses to all questions on this application or fail to complete the application process as instructed, your application will be incomplete, and you will not be considered for the scholarship.
3. Essay questions. Please answer each essay question in 200-300 words and attach it to the scholarship application as a separate document.
a. What impact has military service had on you? Please describe your greatest challenge in transitioning to higher education and how you overcame that challenge.
b. Please describe your academic and career goals. How will your academic and/or career aspirations benefit others in your community.
c. Why should you be chosen to receive the OVMA Gerald B. Faigle and Roberta M. Faigle Student Veteran Scholarship?
d. The OVMA Gerald B. Faigle Jr. and Roberta M. Faigle Scholarship is built on the premise of empowering graduate student veterans to pursue their educational goals and reach their fullest potential. Please describe how receiving this scholarship will help you achieve success.
4. Please note: If you are selected to receive the OVMA Gerald B. Faigle Jr. and Roberta M. Faigle Student Veteran Scholarship, you will be required to provide information for a donor recipient report prior to being awarded funds. OVMA will provide guidelines to the scholarship recipient upon selection notification.
