Broadcasting and Media Relations Internship

Start/End Date: May 15, 2024- August 10, 2024

Internship Objective:

The Fremont Moo has one opportunity for a current college level student looking to gain experience for a career in Media / Broadcasting/Public Address Announcing.  Interns will have a unique opportunity to gain exposure and knowledge of all operational components of the Fremont Moo. Many previous Moo Interns have launched their careers in the sports industry after their immersive internship with the Moo. Interns, regardless of specialty, provide input and ideas to improve the Moo organization. We welcome interns' ideas and creativity. Applicants should be studying a subject in a relevant field.

Want to be a part of the show and entertain fans with your voice, energy, and passion? The Broadcasting and Media Relations internship provides the opportunity to take your sports experience to the next level. Previous public address announcing, play by play and/or color commentary experience in baseball or sports is preferred.

Responsibilities

General Team Responsibilities:

  • Expected to be available for all Fremont Moo home and away games.
  • Intern will be expected to report to the office on home game days 5 hours prior to first pitch
  • Requires ability to work flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
  • If there is not a game on a weekday, you will be expected to attend office hours each day.

- Provide public address announcing for  Fremont Moo home games when needed.

- Play by play or color commentary for all Fremont Moo games.

- Assist in creating a daily game script for all home games.

- Creates player and coaches bios and upload them to the website.

- Works closely with other interns to keep and update pointstreak.

- Responsible for broadcasting equipment along with other key technologies that make the broadcast successful.

- Responsible for pre and post game write ups/press releases and posting them on the website and submitting to media prior to/ following the game.

-Conducting interviews of players, coaches, and sponsors.

- May include editing videos, making graphics, and overall capturing content for the season.

-Prepare daily game notes and assist in the production of team publications.

-Assist in updating team website and creating radio spots

-Assist staff with video broadcast of home games as needed.

-Assist with team social media initiatives as needed.

-Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

About the Organization: The Fremont Moo began playing in 2019. Each team in the league operates similar to a professional minor league team, providing players an opportunity to play under the same conditions using wooden bats, minor league specification baseballs, experiencing overnight road trips, and playing nightly. The environment for fans is family - friendly and community focused.

The Fremont Moo have won 2 league championships in the first 5 seasons of existence. The Fremont Moo have a mission to use FUN and affordable entertainment provided by the Moo organization as a vehicle to make a positive difference in the lives of our families, businesses, players, and communities we serve.

Moo Baseball is more than just a baseball game. In fact, many of our fans don’t attend our games just for the baseball game. They come for the fun promotions, theme nights, daily specials, food/drinks with friends, family, or colleagues, and overall entertainment value the Moo and our business partners provide.

Compensation: All interns will receive a monthly stipend to assist with travel and living expenses. Housing may be available with a host family. All interns receive free food, tickets, and many more perks.

Credit: College credit towards a major, minor or general elective may be earned and is desired. There are educational and work components to this position.
