Editorial Intern

Newsweek is seeking an editorial intern to work with the magazine team for the next six months, taking on assignments for the weekly issue and special projects for digital and print.

The ideal candidate will:

· Be organized and detail oriented.

· Have reporting and writing experience.

· Be comfortable working on stories across a wide range of subjects, which may include politics, U.S. and international news, culture/entertainment, travel, health, technology, and business.

· Be a voracious devourer of the news—someone who comes in each morning knowing what’s happening in the world.

· Be skilled at spotting a unique way into a story.

· Be skilled at writing shareable headlines that get to the heart of a story.

· Be familiar with AP Stylebook.

Experience working on a weekly publication under tight deadlines is a plus, as is knowledge of SEO and social best practices. We're a small, collegial team within a large, news-driven legacy media brand. This position is remote and pays $15-$16 per hour, hours to be agreed upon (20-hour minimum, up to 29 hours per week), for three months, with an optional three-month extension (start date is flexible but as soon as possible). If you are interested in this position, please submit your resume, cover letter, GPA, and links to a few relevant examples of work to Meredith Wolf Schizer (m.schizer@newsweek.com).
