2025 Summer Internship I - Game Day Operation Supervisor
Over the summer, Firecracker Sports hosts youth baseball and softball tournaments in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Interns, in their respective positions, travel to each of these locations to learn how and help give an impactful youth baseball tournament experience to attendees.
The Game Day Operations Supervisor and its related duties, are an outstanding and opportune way for students pursuing a career in the event and sports management field to learn new skills and gain practical experience needed to help jump start a career in sports management. Those selected into our internship are given a unique, front line perspective into the organization and logistics of hosting some of the largest youth baseball tournaments in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic!
This program is ideal for students who are interested in Event/Sports Management Operations. Interns selected receive a highly competitive compensation and free hotel accommodations during the course of their internship. (See below for further details.)

Requirements Include:
- A field of study in Event/Operations Management or Sports Management/Operations.
- Knowledge and passion for sports and/or the game of baseball/softball.
- Willingness to travel and stay overnight in a hotel.
- Reliable automobile for travel.
- Knowledge and understanding on how to score baseball/softball games.
- Must have the ability to post content on our social media platforms during games.
- Must be a self starter and have the ability to manage your time throughout the day.
- Need to have good communication skills and a friendly and professional disposition.
2025 Tournament Schedule
(*Please note:)
- Some tournaments have coinciding schedules. Interns agree and are assigned to each tournament prior to being hired. Interns will be required to work a minimum of at least 8 tournaments and a maximum of 11 tournaments on the dates outlined below.
- All interns are required to attend training the day before the start of the Memorial Day Patriotic Bash in Providence, RI on May 22, 2025. Hotel accommodations are provided as well for training if needed.
- All New England and New York interns will be required to attend the Father’s Day Classic in either Providence, RI or Mystic, CT.
- All New England and New York interns are required to attend the 4th of July Showcase Classic in Providence, RI and Southeast, MA
- All interns are required to attend at least one Player Showcase attached to one of our tournaments.
- Fire 55 Showcase is considered a tournament for pay purposes if assigned.
- Arriving late, leaving early and/or missing an agreed upon day to work will result in a $150 deduction from your compensatory credit.

Responsibilities and Duties Include:
- Manage all aspects of the tournament at your assigned field to ensure everything runs smoothly. In many instances you will be the only person present from Firecracker Sports at your assigned field. Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to, working multiple games per day, confirming the field is ready to play, taking initiative if needed to prep home plate and pitcher's mound between each game if no field crew is present, confirming umpires and teams are on property at reasonable times prior to scheduled game times, making sure games start on time and making sure all games do not run over the 2 hour time limit rule.
- Keep the score using our Game Changer app and report the score via text messaging to the tournament director after each of the 4 baseball/softball games you are assigned to that day. Each pitch, play and substitution in the game is required to be recorded in the Game Changer app.
- Generate and post content and highlights from games to our social media platforms.
- Representing Firecracker Sports and presenting yourself in a professional manner at all times and with everyone you become connected with during the course of the tournament.
- Attend all Google Meets meetings throughout the internship period.
Pay, Benefits, Training and Future Contract/Employment Considerations:
- Compensation: 11 Tournaments $3000, 10 Tournaments $2500, 9 Tournaments $2000, 8 Tournaments $1500 (50% paid on July 2nd and 50% + bonus/mileage/meal reimbursement paid on August 11th)
- Bonus/Mileage/Meal Reimbursement ($1300 for 11 Tournaments, $1000 for 10 Tournaments, $750 for 9 Tournaments, $500 for 8 Tournaments (*Paid on August 11th and only if all agreed upon tournaments are attended for the duration of that event)
- Fully paid/free hotel accommodations.
- Full college credit for the semester with your college or university.
- Onboarding, Training, Mentoring.
- Practical and on the job training and mentoring.
- Interns are routinely hired as paid contractors and staff for future events after successfully demonstrating the skills necessary to perform their related duties.
